Our Linux Systems Administrator will work as part of our Infrastructure team, the Linux Systems Administrator will lead the maintenance of internal and external Linux systems, networks, devices, and software for best performance, security, availability, and efficiency. Provide mentoring and training to other administrators, technicians, and operators of these systems.
We're looking for someone who is curious and will be willing to try out new techn! ologies and learn about unfamiliar equipment and languages. We'd love someone who has used Perl but if you've used other shell automation scripting languages, that is fine too. We're looking for someone that is looking to make a huge impact on an organization and be recognized in a way that is uncommon in Linux Administration. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Deploy and maintain Linux systems in a secure, operational, and efficient state to meet business needs.
- Maintain effective security including authentication, authorization, and access control on Linux systems.
- Backup and restoration of Linux systems including testing of restoration.
- Provide support for customer systems through assistance to Engineering, support of Network Operators, and direct administration of Linux systems.
- Develop tools for and lead s! upport of customer network/system monitoring and administratio! n.
- Assist/backup in system administration of all systems in company heterogeneous environment as needed. This includes Windows servers, LAN and WAN equipment, Firewalls, VPN, PBX, UPSs, and other devices.
- Train technical users in proper use of Linux systems.
- Document all processes, configurations, and significant actions.
- On-call 24x7 duty to be shared with others in IT department.
- Perform other job-related duties and work on special projects as required.
