Job opening - Senior Network Engineer at OTC Markets (New York, NY)

OTC Markets Group operates an electronic quotation and trading system in the over-the-counter (OTCM) securities market and is the third-largest U.S. trading venue after the NYSE and NASDAQ for equity shares. The IT team designs, develops and maintains a number of highly-available, low-latency quotation and trading systems, using cutting-edge computing software and hardware.

OTC Markets' IT Infrastructure is looking for a Senior Network Engineer. This job opportunity requires a significant exposure to networking technologies and infrastructure in the electronic trading domain. Successful individuals in this role should be a subject matter expert in one area with a strong background in network Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies. It is also crucial the candidate works well and communicates effectively with others, is a self-starter, possesses strong analytical skills, and able to think through a project from start to finish.

This job typically inv! olves the following activities:

• Routinely audit and analyze the existing network environment to keep it up-to-date with low latency and high-end operating  requirements


• Work with the IT Infrastructure team on getting our data center and network infrastructure to the next level


• Perform data analysis and relief sizing and timing for Layer 2/ Layer 3 growth


• Collaborate with application development team and support personnel to design highly available and maintainable solutions


• Interact with customers and vendors to troubleshoot existing network problems


• Ability to work on projects with a Project Manager mindset


• Document the existing network infrastructure and procedures as well as upcoming design changes


• Communicate and implements the projected network and system changes, ensuring the stability of the network and compliance with industry best practices
  
• Look for new technology and interacts with vendo! rs on new products

Experience Level Requirements:

• B.S degree in Computer Science, Networking and/or appropriate certifications


• Minimum of 7 years network engineering experience and/or 3rd level support with Service Provider/ Enterprise


• CCNP or higher Cisco certification


• Strong analytical skills demonstrated by professional experience

Technical Skills and Abilities:

• Advanced understanding of IP/ Ethernet/ WAN based Networks


• Advanced knowledge of best practices pertaining to Service Provider/ Enterprise LAN/ WAN designs networking background


• Broad Knowledge of Cisco  hardware and  Cisco command line


• Advanced Knowledge of Visio and Excel


• Knowledge of Solaris-10 and Linux is a PLUS

Familiarity with most of the following:

• Broad line of Cisco network devices including different models of switches, routers, firewalls, VPN, Wi-Fi, ACS and VoIP solutions.


• Routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIP


• Multicast best practices


• Voice control protocols including H.323 and SIP


• F5 Global and Local load balancers (LTM, GTM), and Brocade ADX


• Windows 2003, XP, Vista and Windows7


•  BlackBerry E! nterprise solution for MS Exchange


• MS Office Communicatio! n Server 2007 and its integration with Cisco Unified Call Manager


•  iSCSI networks
