WizeHive empowers people to get customized business apps up and running as easily as getting an app on a mobile device. The technology behind the platform is extremely complex - whether it be form building, deep reporting, automated workflows, or social dashboards, t! here is no shortage of major engineering challenges. Some of these are solved and require maintenance, and others have yet to be properly addressed. We need a self-starter that can help us constantly look two steps ahead, and work alongside other bright engineers to craft & implement solutions.

• A professional backend developer with at least 2 years experience in a startup environment
• Organized & detail oriented

• An expert with data-driven web solutions
• Accustomed to producing & consuming RESTful APIs
• Well-versed in rapid development frameworks
• Familiar with an agile software development workflow

A NOTE ON TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIZATION:

WizeHive is primarily written in PHP, using Cake! PHP as a framework, and MySQL as its data store. Of course, you should be comfortable with & accepting of this environment. However, we also have various server-side JavaScript, NoSQL solutions, and MapReduce models in place or in progress. Whenever realistic, we are comfortable using the best tool for the job. We welcome a diversity in skill set.

Duties include analyzing client requirements and design documentation to develop implementation plans for interactive sites built with the Drupal CMS, developing custom modules and selecting/deploying relevant modules, establishing and maintaining coding standards, and server administration.  In addition to site development duties, assist with the design, development, and refinement of internal products.

Qualifications include:  (1) Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent preferred; (2) 5 or more years of experience as a programmer and/or web developer; (3) Experience programming with PHP, MySQL, Javascript, and web services; (4) Experience developing with the Drupal CMS; (5) Understanding of database design concepts; (6) Ability to adhere! to established processes and standards; (7) Team player with ! the ability to take coaching as appropriate.

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a talented and creative mobile web app developer with expertise in responsive  development. You should have strong technical knowledge in current web development and mobile technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). Words like Backbone, Modernizer, Bootstrap, and Github should resonate with you. When people talk about CSS3 you know which features are currently hardware accelerated and not. In terms of Mobile Safari you should know why “position: fixed” might have been a big deal for some before iOS5. You should love creating things and take great personal pride in building beautiful and functional user interfaces.

We also expect a solid background in the! fundamentals of software development and have a deep understa! nding of best practices in mobile and website development, including cross-browser compatibility, performance tuning of UI/JavaScript applications, and user experience. You don¹t need to worry about older version of IE in this role - hurrah!

• Development and implementation experience of interactive web/mobile apps
• Expertise with JS based frameworks such as jQuery and knowledge of Underscore, Modernizer, etc.
• Experience with Google DFP or working with other large scale ad networks
• Working with layouts (PSD/wireframes) as a basis for responsive and interactive creative
• Prototyping and evaluating front-end designs
• HTML5 (CSS3, transitions, application cache, video, geo etc), DOM, HTML fragments
• Experience with cross-browser and platform issues
• Managing version control systems (Github FTW) code releases (merging, tagging, etc)
• Familiarity with WordPress, client-! side templating, JSON, and 3rd party APIs a plus
• Good communication and documentation skills
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, strong organizational skills, with a methodical approach to all tasks
• Technical problem-solving skills, ability to succeed in a fast-moving high-demand environment, and a willingness to "roll up your sleeves" when necessary

• Deep knowledge and passion for current web trends and practices
• Boundless curiosity about technology and solving problems.
• 3+ years of proven software development, on shipped products and/or launched web applications
• 3+ years of web development experience with an emphasis on Ruby, Rails, Javascript (CoffeeScript) & MySQL/PostgreSQL
• Comfortable working in a dynamic environment and willing to take on various roles, no task too big or too small and able to learn new technologies when needed.
• Experience using Git
• High-bandwidth person who can work unmonitored (from home)
• Candidates must live in the US.

The Manager of Engineering will be empowered to establish and implement standards and practices to ensure the highest degree of quality. 

We are looking for a hands-on technologist with a strong background in development with excellent management skills. They must also have expertise in high-traffic/scalable Internet architectures, Internet search and advertising technologies, online video, large-scale email deployments, and/or ISP/cable billing systems. This individual must be passionate and driven to produce results. They will work very closely with product owners, management and customers in order to develop and launch quality internet products which are used by millions of consumers on a daily basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage an Engineering team of Developers, and other technical positions
• Recruit, train and mentor staff members
• Set realistic objectives and perform semi-annual and annual reviews
• Reward achievement and address under-performance issues
• Maintain personal development plans for all staff members
• Manage Engineering projects
• Follow  an agile development approach with the development team which supports the overall processes of the company
• Work with Product Managers and Project Managers to develop and maintain project backlogs
• Coordinate priorities of development tasks with product and client representatives and oversee their successful completion.
• Drive development teams toward high quality and on-time deliverables
• Deliver status reports to management team
• Lead architectural implementation of product development initiatives
• Maintain expertise in high-volume Web architectures, new technologies, and emerging architectures
• Ensure that all development projects are well architected and well planned, free of unnecessary features (gold-plating), and able to successfully scale to meet the needs of our high traffic volume.
• Arbitrate design disputes and communicate architectural decisions.
• Advocate correct usage of the platform to all development teams and managers

 

Education, Experience and Skills:

• 5-7 years of hands-on Internet development and architecture experience, preferably in a LAMP environment
• 5+ years of experience managing a team of  Engineers (8+) in an agile fast-paced environment
• Degree in Computer Science/Engineering preferred
• Extensive experience with web technologies
• Online services industry experience required
• Good working knowledge of leading online consumer categories
• Excellent communication skills
