Position Description
This position will be responsible for creating and maintaining online data products, including interactive web pages, data visualizations, application programming interfaces (APIs), data-drive applications, GIS maps and similar items.  Responsibilities:
Essential Functions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The successful candidate must have basic skills in web programming.  Familiarity with applying data resources in urban planning environments is desired.  The following skills are not required of applicants, but will become important for the Data Systems Programmer position. CMAP will provide training opportunities as needed to build the successful candidate’s expertise in these skill areas.
  • Web development using HTML, Javascript and CSS
  • Scripting languages such as Python, C# and VB.NET
  • Relational databases and structured query language (SQL)
  • Microsoft IIS and ASP.NET
  • ESRI ArcGis Server
  • Data visualization tools
  • Management of large datasets in various formats
  • Familiarity with urban planning and public policy issues, and the of role of data in urban planning
  • Ability to communicate with non-technicians about data and data systems
 
 
Education and Experience
Applicants should have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field.  A minimum of two years’ relevant experience in web development or a similar field is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in applying data to urban planning.

BioWare Austin is seeking a Systems Administrator.  Duties will include direct oversight of BioWare Austin’s production and development infrastructure for Star Wars: The Old Republic.  The Systems Administrator will be a key component in the delivery of Web and Platform releases to development and production environments.  The Systems Administrator will identify architecture enhancement and automation opportunities for BioWare Austin’s online infrastructure.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the delivery of Web, Platform and Customer Support services to development and production environments
  • Oversees the management of BioWare Austin’s CDN (Akamai).
  • Performs performance monitoring and analysis of online infrastructure.
  • Using MySQL and Oracle provides provisioning, backups, replication, and performance management.
  • Provides strategic architectural guidance and expertise in building and maintaining a production systems environment. 
  • Develops and maintains key automation tools for streamlining workflow and systems management.
  • Configures Netscaler or applications, security and high availability.
  • Develops high availability, disaster recovery planning and database replication.
  • Maintains build platforms and scripts for Web, Platform and Customer Support tool development.
  • Installs, configures, and tests operating systems as well as open-source, commercial and/or proprietary software to meet development and support requirements.
  • Maintains storage solutions and documentation of systems configurations and procedures.
  • Works with hardware and software vendors to resolve hardware outages and software issues.
  • Provides Tier 3 level troubleshooting to the production and development environments.

Requirements:
  • BS in Computer Science preferred or 3+ years systems administration experience
  • 3-5 years minimum of relevant experience in Linux/Unix Systems administration, including design, implementation, ongoing administration, and support of critical systems
  • Understanding of AD and DNS architecture management; GSLB concepts a plus
  • Experience managing a Red Hat variant Linux environment, including provisioning and package management
  • Hands-on experience working with various network technologies â€" VPN, Firewall, Ethernet Switches & Routers, Sniffers, TCP/IP, Network Subnetting, VLANs, Cat5e/Cat6
  • Experience with content management services (Puppet or similar), and deployment automation
  • Proficient Linux scripting skills in Perl, Python or similar
  • Understanding of the implementation requirements of client-server and peer-to-peer networking models
  • MySQL, and Oracle database experience; Golden Gate experience a plus
  • Experience and knowledge of best practices for security and incident management
  • 5+ years of experience with storage management; NetApp experience a plus
  • 5+ years of experience with virtualization technologies; VMware, Citrix Xen experience a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting experience and skills; experience with Splunk and/or AppDynamics a plus
  • 3+ years of experience with CDN technologies
  • 5+ years of experience with Windows servers

Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Help guide the core development team and deliverables.
·         Help guide development team's tools, processes, and quality/performance of the work produced by the team.

The role: We're looking for a developer with significant web development experience to work in collaboration with the Zooniverse development team to help reimagine the Adler's digital strategy. Ideally you'll have worked with some of the modern Javascript frameworks such as Spine or Backbone, have experience with either Ruby or Python and have built experiences for mobile devices. A good working knowledge of how ! to integrate web applications with remote web services is also! highly desirable as is a good understanding of object oriented programming. Ideally you'll have experience of the full life-cycle of software development and will have an opinion on your favorite testing framework. You should also know how to write clean, well-structured code and be able to write standards-compliant HTML and CSS.

Qualifications

  • Five years or more of relevant experience is preferred.

Reporting
This position reports directly to the Director of Administration and Finance.
