General Summary:
Under general supervision of the IT Manager and Senior Systems Programmer, the Programmer will be responsible for assigned programming projects. The Programmer will work closely with both internal and external clients to understand requirements, develop specifications, and design and implement software to meet the needs of the client.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze business needs and specifications to determine programming requirements
- Analyze, define and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs
- Code, test and troubleshoot programs utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and programming technology
- Maintain existing software programs; ma! ke approved changes by amending flow charts, develop detailed programming logic, and coding changes
- Analyze performance of programs and take action to correct deficiencies based on consultation with users and approval of Manager
- Confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs. Resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls
- Write and maintain documentation for software projects
- Analyze Windows client/server and desktop based software solutions according to requirements
- Provide training for developed software, as well as select hardware and business software
- Develop and implement test plans for new projects, and maintenance of existing projects-Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information processed, stored or accessed
- Document programming problems and re! solutions for future reference
- Assist personnel ! of other departments as a computer resource
- Other duties as assigned
