Rails Developer:

SCVNGR is building the next generation mobile payment and merchant loyalty solution, LevelUp (www.thelevelup.com). Our platform is already used by thousands of merchants and hundreds of thousands of users. This is an opportunity to work with a team of developers and designers that balances agility and discipline in driving application design. On this small team you'll have a tremendous amount of responsibility, learn a ton and drive development for one of Boston's most successful startups.

We like to keep the code clean and modular and the commits manageable, with regular code reviews to make sure everyone's on the same page. A fairly flat design and development hierarchy that ensures new ideas aren't just heard, but frequently make it out to production days later. Our platform includes a bunch of cutting-edge t! echnologies (mobile applications, payment via QR codes, custom hardware) playing together in a really cool way.

Responsibilities:

* Work with tech, design and business teams to scope, spec, and build new features for both mobile and web clients

* Write simple, elegant, well-tested code

* Evaluate and recommend tools and processes to improve engineerings ability to deliver stable features on an aggressive timeline

* Confer with mobile developers to design and build APIs to be used by mobile clients

* Participate in code reviews with other developers

Background:

* 1-3 years professional web development experience

* Real-world experience building consumer-facing applications with Ru! by on Rails (or similar experience with Django or another mode! rn web framework and a willingness to learn)

* Solid relational database design fundamentals

* Strong communication and documentation abilities

* Computer Science degree or equivalent experience

Helpful Additional Experience:

* Proficient with Javascript and at least one Javascript framework, preferably jQuery

* Knowledge of git

* Passion for Test Driven Development

* Comfortable in an agile, collaborative team environment.

* Knowledge of front-end web technologies: XHTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, JSON
