Job opening - Director of Unified Communications at Yum! Brands, Inc. (Plano, TX; Louisville, KY)

Purpose of the Job:


The Director of Unified Communications (UC) position is a part of YUM! Brands Global IT team.  This role will work with cross functional teams across all of our brands globally to assess and develop a global UC strategic vision and roadmap.   The UC components include:   Voice over IP, Unified Messaging, Call Centers for Helpdesks, High Definition Video, E-mail, Web Conferencing, Instant Messaging/Presence and integration with other unified communication components for the US, Yum! Restaurants International (YRI) and China.   Essential to success in this role is gaining alignment on the vision and inspiring others to embrace and execute against that vision.    This position is also responsible for day-to- day operations of the UC environment, coaching and developing technical personnel into future leaders.


POSITION FUNCTIONS:

Strategic





  • Develop an effective vision that considers technical innovation, business strategy, employee touch points, risk, and affordability. 

  • Develop supporting business cases for new technologies and initiatives to communicate business benefits to senior management and across functions.  Create inspirational presentations to communicate benefits. 




  • Update technology roadmaps to guide execution of projects, timing and resources




  • Develop relationships to drive results with peers, external partners and customers.  Maintain a close working relationship with brand IT teams, YRI and China to define technology objectives to meet business requirements.




  • Sustain on-going knowledge of IT industry trends to assess impact for future strategies.




  • Develop career growth and training plans for te! am members to develop into future leaders




  • Build strategy team expertise by mentoring team members and include in training plans




  • Develop defining criteria matrix, standards and policies to be utilized globally.




  • Apply creative thinking skills to solve challenging business issues and gain alignment with peers and cross-functional teams


Tactical



  • Proven ability to measure success against defined criteria and objectives.

  • Execute changes flawlessly.

  • Provide escalation support to complex cross-functional issues to ensure reduced system downtime.

  • Recommend process improvements and procedural changes for preventative maintenance and policies

  • Ability to lead large enterprise-wide projects.  Must display a high degree of proficiency in proje! ct management techniques, including time estimates, resource allocations, project status updates and managing critical path and milestone deadlines.

  • Inspire others - Influential leadership of personnel and teams to accomplish goals a must

  • Develop and adapts plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges

  • Manage and influence vendors to resolve issues and implement new technologies

  • Negotiate and drive approval process for contracts or statements of work

  • Lead and manage RFP process

  • Manage budget, lease decisions, billing, and other financial elements
