We are looking for a very special senior manager for our production engineering team. Production Engineering is a hybrid software/systems group responsible for ensuring that Atlassian's hosted services and deployment pipeline runs smoothly and has capacity for future growth. ! You'll work with all the other Atlassian product groups and infrastructure teams and our partner data centre providers. Managing the production team requires a comprehensive understanding of a wide range of technologies, a clear focus on growing and developing the skills on your team, and a relentless drive to focus on high-value projects and prioritise ruthlessly.

You will need genuine technical management abilities and sublime people management skills. Your most important function is to inspire your team of developers to build better products. You'll do this by combining your charming and pragmatic personality with your constant drive to understand, question and improve development tools and processes. Your superhuman levels of innovation and persistence will ensure you get high quality, lustworthy software releases out the door and lead your team to dizzying new peaks of performance.

What you'll do

• Manage th! e production engineers working on our hosted services such as ! HipChat, Bitbucket, and OnDemand.


• Lead the infrastructure and deployment pipeline that provides networking, build, monitoring, and deployment tooling to all the product teams.


• Understand technical architectures, capacity plans, tooling needs, automation plans and creating comprehensive plans for prioritising technical and resources.


• Balance the team to "keep the lights on" while allocating teams to work on high-impact, longer term projects.


• Access employee performance, address under-performance, and recognise and promote excellent performance.


• Maximize uptime while lowering the cost per user for our production services.


• Scaling the hosted product infrastructure and processes to support dozens of Atlassian products in addition to partner add-ons deploying to it weekly.


• Co-ordinate multiple streams of software development across several teams and a couple of geographies


• Onboard teams from different geographies by spreading our engineering culture, principles, and how we get stuff done


• Use your inclusive management style to guide and grow your team of 40+ developers, and help them achieve their best performance


• Provide project visibility through well-chosen metrics and concise status reporting


• Ensure the quality of your product keeps getting better & better with each release


• Collaborate with Customer Support to ensure our customers' success


• Promote, define, refine and enforce best practices and process improvements that fit Atlassian's Agile methodology


• Collaborate with your fellow Engineering Managers to share ideas that will continue to improve our awesome Engineering Group
