The Web Developer is responsible for the creation and implementation of a wide variety of web-based products using PHP, JavaScript, MySQL and AJAX. This position will play an active role in the planning, development and maintenance of the company’s consumer websites. This involves working closely with staff designers and developers as a member of a team.

OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES OF THIS POSITION

1. Write strong and efficient hand-coding of semantic and standards-compliant JavaScript and PHP

2. Build new websites and solutions using open-source tools and content management systems

3. Update, maintain, and secure existing websites and source code

4. Carry out W3C validation, debugging, accessibility and usability tests

5. Candidate should be results-oriented and comfortable with working on several simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment

6. Excellent organizational, analytical, written, and oral communications skills are critical, as well as excellent English grammar and attention to detail

 

 Technical/Functional Competencies

a) Demonstrated knowledge of LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL,PHP) web technolgies is essential to this position

b) Significant, comprehensive, and demonstrated experience

c) Expert fluency in W3C compliant HTML/XHTML/CSS

d) Proficiency with a JavaScript framework such as jQuery

e) Experience working with version control systems such as Subversion

f) Ability to write queries in Structured Query Language (SQL) to extract data from MySQL, Oracle, or other databases

g) Experience building highly compatible multipart HTML/text email templates

 Key Experiences/Achievements

a) 3-5 years previous development experience, with a portfolio of work history

b) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

c) Ability to comfortably work across multiple technical areas simultaneously or as need arises

d) A deep appreciation for open-source technologies and a passion for the web

e) Has excellent project management, listening, analytical, facilitating and orgizational skills demonstrated clearly by past experiences
