Squaremouth is looking for a Web Developer to work from our development offices in Fort Wayne, IN.
The ideal candidate must be able to produce results, embrace constant change, and have fun while doing it!
Keeping current with web development technologies and techniques is a must, so they should be comfortable learning on their own as well as taking input from our other developers.
The Web Applications Developer will maintain and build upon the Squaremouth.com travel insurance web site, administrative backend, product database, and development tools. Their time will be split between adding new features, fixing bugs, reviewing your peers code, and importing product data.
Our applications are written with Ruby on Rails with plenty of JavaScript spr! inkled in. We expect candidates to write Ruby code every day and incorporate dynamic behavior with JavaScript as appropriate. Previous Ruby experience is not a requirement, although we will expect candidates to learn the language and Rails framework. As with any web application, theyll need to build sensible HTML/CSS and integrate with backend databases.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Writing Ruby, JavaScript, MySQL and CSS to add new functionality to our application or to troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing code
- Using Test Driven Development to validate the functionality of the code you write
- Incorporating documentation within your code
- Checking code regularly into our version control system
- Participating in code review! s and providing feedback to other members of the team
- Communicating frequently via IM, phone, group chat, task tickets, and meetings to clarify expected behavior, get feedback on your work, consider alternative solutions, and support the team
- Making presentations to the team on work completed, new technologies, or code ideas
- Receiving coaching and training from our other developers
Requirements
- Ability to work independently, arranging your work to meet deadlines
- Experience with a web application programming language
- Passion for growing your skills, tackling interesting work and challenging problems
- Energetic, positive attitude
- Ability to work within a team, collaborate on projects and share responsibility
