The AWS Marketplace has recently launched and we are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer for the next phase of our effort. Our job is to bring Amazon's e-commerce expertise to cloud software and fundamentally change how software is discovered and consumed in the cloud - and we need your help! The feedback from customers is rolling in, and we have a long list of new ideas just waiting to be designed and implemented.
The AWS Marketplace is newly launched and it’s just the beginning of things to come. We are focused on creating a great experience for both buyers of software - from current AWS customers to Enterprise IT departments to non-technical business users - and sellers of software - the vendors that build software that utilizes AWS many services. Specifically you will work to make it simple for customers to find and utilize the software they need, whether they know exactly what they need or not. As a Software Developm! ent Engineer on the team you will own significant portions of the product and will have significant influence on our strategy by helping define the next wave of product features and system architecture. The systems are complex and there are huge opportunities to work at all levels from the front end user experience, to a set of robust platform services, to kernel and system level pieces and everything in between. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and is passionate about building quality software as well as achieving operational excellence. A commitment to team work, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are essential.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record of success delivering new features or products. This person has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment where priorit! ies shift fast. He or she has strong OO design and implementat! ion experience, strong knowledge of web services and protocols (HTTP/XML/REST), and an in-depth knowledge of distributed systems architectures based on SOA. Experience with web app frameworks such as Struts or Rails, along with UI development based on JavaScript and AJAX will be very applicable and helpful.
