BestVendor is a NYC startup that’s helping make work awesome by connecting people to the tools that work best for them. We’re building a social discovery resource where people can quickly get reviews and recommendations on the best software, apps, and services for work. (Think: Yelp for business, but more social.) Our ideal candidate has significant software engineering experience and enough Ruby on Rails experience to hit the ground running. S/he is a problem-solver who loves turning great ideas into great products.
BestVendor is built on Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Heroku on the back-end, as well as CoffeeScript, SCSS, jQuery, backbone.js and mustache on the front-end side. We use Asana to manage our two-week Scrum sprints.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in our ! sprints, building new features and improving existing parts of our site
- Challenge our head of engineering and be a thought-partner on the most difficult technical issues
- Improve the code base by constantly looking for places to make things faster or cleaner
- Make sure our applications are scalable and ready for rapid growth
- Have fun, be agile, speak up
