Job opening - Site Reliability Engineer - Load Balancing team, Amazon, Dublin at Amazon Data Services Ireland (Dublin, Ireland)

As a Systems Engineer working on Amazon’s Load Balancing team, your mission is to ensure Amazon’s load balancing solutions are always secure, performant, available, scalable and operationally excellent.
You will build, manage and scale the fleet of hardware load balancers that front every major Amazon website and web service. You will design and develop sophisticated metrics, monitoring and alarming for the load balancer fleet. You will also design and develop systems to automate load balancer installation and real time configuration management.

You will be working on highly visible projects that directly impact the availability and performance of services across the entire Amazon business. You will also be driving performance and reliability from load balancing at massive scale. Your work will be fun and challenging every day and you will get to work with just about every other engineering and operations team at Amazon. You will be looked upon as! an expert and advocate to fellow engineers on making design and reliability trade-offs in running massive-scale load balanced services that fail gracefully and transparently to users.

The most successful candidates for this role will have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, strong coding skills, systems architecture and design, great communication skills and a desire to tackle the complex problems of scale. We are particularly interested in software engineers and Unix programmers familiar with aspects of running web services at scale. Deep networking knowledge and Unix internals are also highly desirable.
