Job opening - Sr Software Development Engineer - Content Platform Core at Amazon (Seattle, WA)

The Content Platform Core (CPC) team builds content storage and delivery services powering enterprise Amazon websites around the globe. Our team's products are engineered for maintaining 27x4 uptime while handling large data volumes by scaling horizontally. Our systems are designed with reuse and extensibility in mind. The CPC team is looking for an experienced engineer who will help drive the expansion of our architectures, APIs, services, and designing new features. You’ll participate in defining new APIs, developing a scalable architecture, and working with other Amazon teams to integrate their services with ours.

Ideal candidates are self-motivating, have solid object-oriented development skills, and have experience working in back end technologies. We are seeking senior engineers who possess the ability to act as technical leads throughout the development process and help evolve our platform into tomorrow.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Scie! nce or related field, or 4+ years relevant work experience
• Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as Java, C++, C#
• Proven large scale system design skills
• Significant experience with mission critical, 24x7 systems
• Significant experience with high throughput, multi-threaded systems
• Significant experience implementing and consuming large scale web services
• Expert working knowledge of design patterns
• Expert working knowledge of REST and RPC service patterns and other client/server interaction models
• Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures

• Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
• Ability to lead a project and developers from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices f! or the full software development life cycle, including coding ! standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
