Job opening - Jr. Programmer / System Analyst at Geocent (San Jose, CA)

Geocent is in need of an experienced System Analyst for our growing team in Monterey, CA working on a project with the Department of Defense.


Qualified candidates will be required to have the following experience:



  • A Minimum of 2 years of experience in designing, coding, testing, debugging and documenting software

  • 1 year of experience in application analysis and software version control

  • Ability to identify, trouble shoot, and correct operational problems as required


1 year of experience in the following shell and programming languages



  • LINUX or Unix

  • Shell scripting for LINUX/Unix environment

  • Tcl/Tk language


Knowledge in the following is highly desirable:



  • Java servlets

  • PERL

  • FORTRAN

  • PBSPro
  • GrADS graphics

  • GMT graphics

  • Apache Tomcat

  • PGI, OpenMPI, or INTEL MPI


Ability to perform and assist in the Operational Test  of application software  to include: 



  • Configuring  test areas

  • Running a controlled experiment

  • Archiving results for analysis and verification

  • Calculating results using verification software, and writing the Operational Test Report

  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze complex problems

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with people on all experience levels

  • Strong communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Ability to be highly self-directed and work closely within a team


Other Requirements:



  • All candidates are required to be US citiz! ens

  • Candidates must also hold an active DOD Secr! et Clearance or have the ability to obtain an Interim Clearance

  • Qualified candidates must have a degree in Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent work experience
