Pascal Metrics has an immediate opening for an operations/systems engineer to join our team at our headquarters in Georgetown, Washington DC. The ideal candidate will have experience designing, deploying, and maintaining the infrastructure for highly scalable and fully secured web services platforms.

We are looking for:
- Self-motivated, prolific operations/systems engineers able to work effectively in a small team
- Extensive experience configuring/deploying/monitoring infrastructure for open source platforms on LinuxÂ
- Scripting expertise with python, perl, ruby, or your favorite shell
- Engineers who thrive in a fast-paced environment driven by a competitive startup mentality
- Hands-on technologist with the skills required to configure, maintain, scale, and optimize the various components (MySQL, MongoDB, Memcache, Ngin! x, Ubuntu Servers) that are part of our platform
- In! -depth understanding of web technologies from protocols to browsers and everything in betweenÂ
- Experience with SaaS platforms and webservices deployed on virtual servers in the "Cloud"
- Thorough understanding of security principles and ability to apply best practices and compliance-based security patterns to local, remote, and cloud-based servers.
- Engineers with pride and interest in their craft beyond the day job
Pluses:
- Strong background in relational database administration (DBA experience)
- Familiarity with Mac OSX Server, Crashplan Pro, Robo devices,
- Practical knowledge of network design and deployment (VPN, Voice over IP, WAP security, Cisco IOS)
