The Lead Applications Developer will have extensive experience writing object-oriented JavaScript as well as expertise in CSS3 and HTML5 for web application development in a variety of browsers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Development, documentation, and maintenance of cutting edge web-based applications in our portal and mobile platforms.
• Design JavaScript & HTML5 web applications.
• Lead technical planning and architectural exercises.
• Provide technical consultation and expertise to Product Managers and other Synacor staff members.
• Develop and maintain applications using standard development tools.
• Act as a resource and mentor for colleagues; may direct the work of other staff members.
• Other duties as assigned.

 

What you’ll bring to the table:

• A minimum of 6 years of development experience in software or website development; proven experience developing large-scale database-driven applications is highly desirable
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or the equivalent work experience
• A strong understanding of OOP principles a must
• Expertise in programming with OOP JavaScript including the entire software development lifecycle
• Expertise with jQuery as well as experience with other JavaScript frameworks, Backbone.js and Handlebars client-side templates
• Experience with user interface design principles and implementation including CSS3 and HTML5 (Transitions, Animations, Gradients, Rounded Corners, CSS3 Layouts)
• Experience in Mobile Development is desirable
• Able to solve problems, analyzing possible solutions in a methodical fashion
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet set deadlines
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to collaborate
