Our Minnetonka office is looking for a Systems Administrator to help with day-to-day maintenance, development, server restructuring and service upgrades.
An ideal candidate would know their way around a Linux server and Apache/MySQL/sendmail services, as well as be able to work in and provide support for Mac OS X and Windows. Scripting skills in bash or another shell are necessary. Working knowledge of PHP and enthusiasm for development of web apps and utilities (for admin uses as well as product integration) is a must. A candidate should have experience in putting together a PC from separately purchased components and should know how to troubleshoot and replace/repair non-functioning hardware.
To start, the position requires that the bulk of work hours are spent at the office but as training progresses and more experience is gained more time could be spent telecommuting.
As a System Administrator (and web develop! er) you would:
- develop and restructure our services on Amazon's EC2 server cloud
- maintain and improve our current IT services
- improve our current database structure
- improve our logging and problem detection strategies
- write shell scripts to automate server tasks
- build web tools for internal use with PHP/SQL/HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- assist in redesign and rebuilding of our current websites and web services
- maintain the network and handful of machines at our office
- help support staff, administrators and developers resolve problems related to their machines or any of our services
- deal with hardware upgrades, server moves, computer repairs
- occasionally assist in testing new software and software updates as well as preparing new software and software updates for release (installers, discs, some disc ! duplication)
- help support staff resolve customer! issues (specifically issues related to websites and back-end web services)
