Description:
The Software Developer III designs, develops, tests and documents software systems and applications. This employee communicates with customers to understand their requirements and clearly present system modifications and designs to peers and colleagues. The Software Developer III also provides technical support and troubleshooting for new and existing systems.
Essential Job Functions:
• Collaborate with analysts and peers to develop systems of significant complexity
• Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
• Estimate software development tasks to within predictable variances given specified functional and business requirements
• Accountable for the quality, performance and adherence to specification of their assigned development tasks
• Perform a variety of development and systems administration tasks
• Rely on experience and! judgment to plan and accomplish goals, but occasionally seek out expert advice
• Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming and documentation
• Work under the technical supervision of a technical manager
• Notify technical manager of variances from plan and identify changes in scope or work
• Report to a technical manager
Specific Requirements:
• Software Development experience 5+ years
• Demonstrable good understanding of operating system and network fundamentals
• Demonstrable good understanding of software development life-cycle methodologies
• Demonstrable good understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills
• Strong knowledge and extensive experience with Java/J2EE
• Knowledge and experience with multithreading and socket programming
• Knowledge and exper! ience with SQL database such as Oracle and MySql
• Kno! wledge and experience with Java servlet and servlet containers such as Tomcat
Additional Skills:
• Knowledge of messaging protocols (XMPP, SIMPLE, etc)
Education:
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
