Job opening - Sr. Android Developer at Weather Central, LP (Madison, WI)

We’re looking for a Sr. Android Engineer to be a key member of a small, skilled, results-oriented team of developers. We want people who love turning ideas into software and are very good at doing just that.

You’ll be designing and developing phone and tablet apps and libraries that utilize weather data from REST-ful services on AWS. These apps and libraries run the gamut from simple HTML5 wrappers to extremely complex apps that are location-aware, use maps with animations, have video playback, include in-app purchases, implement social integration, and use most of Android’s API. This is a hands-on role, so you’ll be responsible for designing libraries and components, mentoring others on the design, writing code, testing, and deploying the finished apps and libraries.

Essential Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Create working, maintainable, fast, Android apps and libraries! from product requirements and UX/UI designs.

  • Refactor and continuously improve the existing Android codebase.

  • Architect apps and libraries to ensure device and version compatibility.

  • Excellent communication with technical and non-technical people.

  • Quick learner and versatile; be able to handle both Android and occasional Java back-end work.

  • You’ll be expected to come up with cool new ideas, not just be a code monkey.

  • Be proactive in keeping your skills fresh.
