User experience designer needed to conceptualize and design our next-gen e-commerce portal

At UrbanTouch.com, we are building the next generation e-commerce platform that makes the overall online shopping experience so "wow"-inducing and intuitive that brick and mortar stores will finally becoming a thing of the past.

We are looking for a top-flight user experience researcher and designer who can spearhead this effort.

The designer will work independently and with other team members to help shape the new look UrbanTouch.com. The ideal candidate has a strong sense of design with respect to creating simple, elegant, aesthetically pleasing interfaces based on user-center design principles. This person will be responsible for all stages of user experience design throughout the product lifecycle ensuring a compelling look and feel that meets branding, business and user requirements (spanning user interface, interaction and visual design). Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills are a must. Our compensation is commensurate with experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Working closely with a cross-functional team to assess product requirements, the designer will translate requirements into concepts and elegant user design, interaction models, user task flows, screen designs, and UI details that promote ease of use and optimize the user experience of various flows on UrbanTouch.com
• Organizing these design details into a complete user experience design specification to be used as a blueprint for development
• Be self-motivated and make logical decisions to ensure the overall success of the project by creating designs that seamlessly address customer and business concerns and objectives
• Keep abreast of current design tools, techniques and methodologies
• Be willing to challenge traditional design thinking and look for new and innovative ways to approach design projects and improve and streamline the user experience

Position Requirements:

• At least 3+ years of appropriate professional industry experience designing GUIs for websites and web applications, or Master's Degree with at least 2+ years of professional experience
• Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Human Factors, Fine Arts, or other related disciplines; advanced degree preferred
• Have practical experience employing user-centric design methods
• Solid working experience with design tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Visio, etc.
• Working knowledge of design and typography principles
• Online portfolio required 

“Nice to Have” Skills:

• Ability to create personas, profiles, and use case scenarios 
• Ability to rapidly prototype designs in hand-coded HTML
