Job opening - Manufacturing Systems Engineer at General Electric Energy Storage (Schenectady, NY)

We are seeking a person with solid experience as an information systems analyst in a manufacturing environment for an advanced battery plant in Schenectady, NY. This person will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing IT solutions for a new manufacturing business. The ideal candidate would be a well-rounded IT professional who has a proven record of delivering complete solutions, not just data, to customers at all levels of the organization. 


Essential Responsibilities Partner with manufacturing operations and engineering groups to understand their processes and information needs



  • Develop a functional understanding of general and specific manufacturing processes

  • Transform business needs into system requirements 

  • Determine the most cost effective method to enable business processes

  • Architect and design manufacturing applications or enhancements to our MES and SCADA systems to support company growth and to improve product quality, yield and productivity

  • Manage quality assurance testing and assisting with system deployment

  • Facilitate analysis of process trends and root causes with visualization tools and modeling techniques using historical plant data for continuous time series, discrete and batch process production data

  • Develop dashboards and reports to highlight abnormalities in factory, process, or system performance

  • Enable better business decisions to be made faster by facilitating the use of information captured in our ERP, MES, SCADA, and other business systems

  • Integrate our MES with related manufacturing or business systems

  • Design and implement a mobility stra! tegy to monitor factory performance from Apple iPads
  • The technology stack on which you will execute your responsibilities includes:

  • GE Intelligent Platforms Proficy suite of applications, including Plant Applications, CIMPLICITY, iHistorian, Workflow, and Real-Time Information Portal

  • Microsoft technologies such as .NET, Windows Failover Clustering, SQL Server 2008 R2, SSRS, SSIS, and IIS 7.5


  • Data collection technologies including CIMPLICITY, Bachmann, Kepware, and Matrikon OPC Servers

  • GE RX3i PLCs with some Allen Bradley, Siemens and other controllers

  • QuickPanel HMIs

  • Oracle ERP and Fusion middleware
