Job opening - Software Development Engineer at Amazon (Seattle, WA)

Amazon Payments, is responsible for building services and products to enable Amazon customers to use their Amazon credentials across the internet for payments. We own Checkout by Amazon, which includes customer, merchant, and developer support. We are building a world-wide service so customers in a variety of countries can use Checkout by Amazon to make purchases on websites across borders and languages.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, debug, deploy, maintain, document, and deliver large-scale, highly distributed, real-time and management systems that are core to effectively managing the e-commerce business.
  • Use Java, object-oriented (OO) design patterns, distribut! ed Oracle databases, and data modeling techniques.
  • Gather and analyze business and functional requirements, and translate business requirements into technical design specifications.
  • Serve as a key technical resource in the full development cycle.
  • Produce comprehensive, usable software documentation.
  • Recommend changes in development, maintenance and system standards.
  • Work in an Agile development environment, where you are always working on the most important stuff.
  • Hire, coach, and mentor individuals.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 7+ years of experience is required.

  • Strong OO design and coding skills in Java a must.
  • Rich, hands-on experience developing with HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, Oracle, and Linux/Unix.
  • Familiarity with various software technologies, methodologies, and applied software engineering practices/standards such as OOD, Java/J2EE, Tom! cat, Struts, Spring, and AJAX.
  • Experience developing a! nd supporting large-scale software systems.
  • Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in translating requirements into technical design specifications and documentation, as well as executing development projects from conception to delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
