Are you a motivated individual who is looking to be a key part of building a service from the ground up in a startup-like environment? At WHCC, you will be developing and building an ecommerce website to sell and build products for artists and your duties will include:
- Building a service to sell and create printed products online,
- Infrastructure planning, building a new system from the ground up,
- Taking a design and converting it to html/css accurately,
- Ensuring website funcitionality system works in all modern web browsers,
- Testing and debugging,
- Continuous development and rapidly pushing fixes a! nd changes, and
- Staying mindful of current security practices for securely handling user and financial data.
You’ll work directly with Company Owners, founders and designers to be the first engineer for this new division.
Requirements:
- Computer Science degree or similar job experience,
- Proven track record demonstrative of programming abilities,
- Strong analytical and debugging skills,
- Strong written and verbal communication skills,
- Self-starter, self-motivated, independent and proactive,
- Must be persistent and able to work in an unstructured environment with a high degree of independence, while routinely hitting demanding deadlines, without requiring constant follow-up and prodding to secure closure,
- Strong technical project management skills,
- Detail-oriented individual with excellent or! ganizational and prioritizing abilities, and
- Ability t! o perform under tight deadlines.
Required Knowledge:
- Front end web development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript),
- Back end development skills (PHP, Ruby, or Python and MySQL),
- Experience with version control systems, such as Subversion or CVS,
- Experience using Amazon Web Services in a production environment,
- Experience building with techniques for scaling in mind, and
- In-depth knowledge of techniques for server side image adjustment while maintaining maximum quality.
Pluses:
- Passion for art and photography,
- Experience with server configuration and optimizing for scale, and
- Knowledge and interest in current social media, internet, and technology trends.
