Job opening - Software Engineer, Python, YouTube at Google Inc. (San Bruno, CA)

This position is based in San Bruno, CA.


The area: YouTube and Video


The first video posted on YouTube was a 19-second clip called "Me at the Zoo." Today, more than 48 hours of video are uploaded every minute. The YouTube and Video team helps budding filmmakers and musicians build careers, creates products like Google TV and YouTube Live and runs collaborative projects like Life in a Day and the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. We are leading a change in how we entertain, inform and share with one another, whether through cat videos or footage of a revolution in progress.


The role: Software Engineer, Python, YouTube


Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies which have changed how millions interact, making accessible and useful the world's information. Our ambitions reach far beyond just Search To handle information at the the scale of the web requires ideas f! rom every areas of computer science, including information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression and user interface design; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you work on small team and can switch teams and projects as our fast-paced business grows and evolves. We need our engineers to be versatile and always eager to tackle new problems as we continue to push technology forward.


You are a software engineer who can write server-side code for web-based applications, for both internal and external use. You are comfortable and enjoy working on the full development stack - both backend and frontend. You are also a well-rounded developer who knows how to create robust high-volume production applications, and can develop prototypes quickly. The work is challenging, creative, fast paced and intellectually stimulating.



Responsibilities:



  • Design, implement and launch highly-visible, user-facing features.

  • Develop new ways for YouTube users to find interesting content.

  • Design and develop large scale web applications using Python as well as JavaScript, CSS and HTML templates.

  • Design, develop, and enhance infrastructure primarily using Python as an object-oriented language to build a platform that everyone can use to create the channels of tomorrow.
