We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about building and managing a best-in-class Network Operations Center that maintains Livestream’s infrastructure. You will be responsible for building the NYC and LA branches of the Livestream NOC, and will have both of those NOCs plus the Bangalore NOC Manager reporting to you. You should have strong management experience, be able to learn new technologies quickly, and love to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment. As part of a start-up competing in a world-scale market, you will be expected to work hard and will have the ability to manage services used by millions of people. The NOC Manager is the f! ocal point for any level of engineer to escalate an issue or to approach for advice, and should provide superior technical and business knowledge upon which the team can draw.
The NOC Manager will start in NYC for 1-2 months, being trained by the Dev Ops team and hiring the NYC staff. Once that is complete, the NOC Manager will set up operations in LA, hiring and training the staff and then overseeing the global NOC teams from LA.
Responsibilities:
- Run the global Livestream NOC: Hire and train NOC staff in both NYC and LA. Set global NOC policies and procedures. Supervise the Bangalore NOC team and make sure that all 3 teams are functioning at an extremely high level. Hours of Coverage: Standard business week with weekend and off-hours escalation responsibilities.
- Manage the NOC team: hire, fire, train, and lead them. Make sure that they are happy and productive! and meeting their goals -
- Ensure that the NOC t! eam are made aware of all production issues that warrant further escalation and that escalation to the appropriate cross-functional manager is carried out in accordance with the prescribed escalation policy.
- Generate tasks, monitor workload and productivity, and intervene in issues to maximize the effectiveness of the NOC team.
- Help to define and set up metrics measurement - this includes site-level metrics (performance, uptime, etc.) as well as team- and individually-based metrics (response time, successful issue resolution timing, etc.). Build dashboards and reports and manage communication with the rest of the company.
- Work with the Dev Ops team and the NOC members to build monitoring, automation, and management tools for the environment.
- Work as the liaison between the NOC team and senior management by keeping senior management appraised about the issues and progress of the NOC team and keeping the NOC team f! ocused on achieving its business requirements.
- Disaster recovery and business continuity management, including data backup and restore procedures, system and network redundancy, etc.
- Provide technical QA review of documentation submitted to the NOC team.
- Leading and participating in technical troubleshooting calls.
- Contribute to and provide technical QA for outage post mortem reports.
- Provide support for disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
