C/Unix Agent Engineer at New Relic (Portland, OR)

Are you a C/C++ rockstar?

Do you also love modern, dynamic languages like Ruby, Python, and PHP?

Are you fascinated with the implementation of these languages: memory layouts, garbage collectors, the corners of the performance envelope, and even the C internals of the VMs?

Are you motivated by building things that “can’t be built”?

If you answered "Yes!" you really should be part of the New Relic dev team. What are you waiting for?? See log in below. Oh, you want to know more . . . ?

New Relic is looking for someone who understands multithreading, database contention, and object-oriented design, as well as the experience coding down in the bits: C/C++/Apache/PHP/Python/etc. Enthusiasm for agile processes and continuous deployment is essential, whereas experience building and deploying web applications is helpful but not a blocking requirement.

If you are our kind of engineer, you wil! l have:

  • Written a lot of C or C++. Pointers are your friends and you have code samples to prove it.

  • Done something interesting with the meta-programming facilities of a modern dynamic language

  • A relevant college degree or equivalent experience

Our product is simple for users, but complex behind the scenes. This requires that you have an existing portfolio of (and continually invent new) tricks and techniques. Of course, you’re the kind of person who thinks that’s hugely fun. So in joining New Relic you’ll also be setting yourself up for non-stop engineering fun. Interested??
