Job opening - Sr. Software Development Engineer at Amazon (Seattle, WA)

Kindle is a revolutionary reading device and one of the most innovative businesses at Amazon. The Kindle team is seeking creative software engineers who take great pride in both the technical and business contribution of their work. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of technologies while writing Kindle device software and building large-scale back-end services. You will own major deliverables end-to-end, work closely with other teams and scale our services as the business grows. This is a high visibility team where you will get a chance to make positive impact on customer experience.

- Strong CS fundamentals.
- Strong OO design and coding skills in Java or C++.
- Experience building large scale, high-performance, reliable systems in a complex, multitiered, distributed environment.
- Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent technical, problem solving and communication skills
- A bachelor's ! degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field with 3+ years of experience is required.
- Hands-on experience developing with Javascript, HTML, CSS, XML Web Services. Perl, MySQL, Oracle, and Linux is a plus.

- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills preferred
