We're PVPower, a solar energy company based in Chicago. We're a small team working hard to get more solar panels onto more roofs. We're revenue-generating, funded and growing.
Weâre working to make it easier for solar installers to get projects done across the U.S. through our solar project planning app SolarBear and our e-commerce store.
Weâre looking for a front-end developer with an appreciation and eye for design to join our engineering team. For starters, weâre looking someone well-versed in HTML/CSS/Javascript. And while design isnât the focus of the role weâre hiring for, we want someone who appreciates polished Design/UI/UX, eagerly provides recommendations for improvement, and takes pride in clean, concise implementation.
In addition to hard skills, communication is really important. Youâll have a key and growing role on our product team. Weâll be looking to you to help brainstorm, concept and implement improvements to SolarBear.Weâre a Ruby-on-Rails shop. On the front-end weâre making extensive use of AJAX, HAML, LESS, jQuery, and Backbone.js. It would be great if youâre versed and interested in these technologies and frameworks. On top of that, weâre big fans of separation-of-concerns into content, presentation, and behavioral components. If youâre a talented developer and want to make a real difference and are interested in the above, weâd love to talk to you.
We're open to candidates both local (Chicago) and remote (across the U.S. and world).
To apply, email us (jobs@pvpower.com) your the top 3 things youâre looking for in a great job, your portfolio and resume. Also, what technologies do you love working with and why? Finally we'd like to know how you'd rate yourself (low: 1 --> high: 10) on HTML, CSS, javascript, Backbone.js/Ember.js/AngularJS, UI design & graphic design.
We look forward to hearing from you.

More About PVPower:
PVPower opened for business in early 2009. Since then we've sold thousands of solar components to solar installers across North America without the help of any rockstars or ninjas that we know of. Our office is a big and bright loft on the north side along the Ravenswood corridor. We are an Excelerate Labs company -- class of 2010 and have a strong network of mentors and investors.
And we're big fans of:
- Learning new things
- Wearing many hats (and plenty of wool ones during Chicagoâs winter)
- Solving problems and others who do this well
- Making a difference and, if we're lucky, the world just a tiny bit better
- Renewable energy, especially solar
