Fitbit is a venture-backed start-up building consumer oriented, web-connected health and fitness devices with a focus on design and user experience ( http://www.fitbit.com ). Our mission is nothing short of making the world a healthier place!
Our current products include the Fitbit Tracker and our new Aria smart scale. Read more about these products here: http://www.fitbit.com/product
We are looking for great engineers to build the Fitbit web experience. The technology that we use includes Java, Stripes, Spring, mySQL, Solr, memcache, and distributed ehcache. We're open to talking to any OO programmers, really!
What you’ll do:
As we grow, we need help scaling. You’ll help bring solutions to the following questions: How do we handle dramatically more users? What happens when users use the site for social interaction as opposed to data viewing? How do we speed up the response times of our site? How! do we evaluate different distributed caching architectures?
Experience we’d like to see:
- 3-5+ years of experience working with Ruby, Java, or Python.
- Undergrad degree in computer science or similar (multidisciplinary, weird minors, and circuitous careers a plus)
- Proven experience working on highly scalable, database-backed web applications
- Data analysis skills are a nice-to-have
- Side projects or open-source contributions.
At Fitbit, you will work on a fairly unique product in the emerging field of highly-connected consumer devices that combine physical devices, web and mobile. You will make a difference in our customers' lives.
