Job opening - Technical Program Manager at Amazon (Seattle, WA)

The team that helped launch the Kindle Fire is looking for strong technical program managers to drive a number of high-profile initiatives.

As a Technical Program Manager you will work with product managers and designers across the organization to define requirements and timelines, as well as lead cross-functional development teams through design, delivery, management and support. You will communicate with senior management on roadmaps, progress, risks and change control. Cross-team coordination, project management and executive presentation skills are essential.

Candidates should have a demonstrated track record of successful delivery of cross-team initiatives and a strong sense of ownership and judgment. The role demands strong collaboration with product management, design and engineering disciplines. Ideal candidates will possess strong knowledge and hands-on experience in program management discipline coupled with excellent working knowledge of software dev! elopment methodologies, object-oriented programming, software architecture and highly scalable systems.

  • Software development experience (in a modern object-oriented language, XML, messaging protocols)
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in internet-related program and/or technical product management in a software applications environment
  • Strong working knowledge of current web technologies
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related technical discipline

  • Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple initiatives
  • Prior experience as a hands-on software developer
