Job opening - 1337 Generalist Engineer (Python, Mongo, Backbone) at Twice (San Francisco, CA)

You'll do it all — from optimizing our Mongo schema for faceted search, to designing elegant and performant UX, to building our next-generation inventory management system (this includes using a screwgun and hacksaw). We are seeking engineers with a strong academic understanding of CS fundamentals, but who also recognize that software development is iterative, and that the perfect is the enemy of the good.

In addition, Twice is a company free of PMs, and likely to remain so for a long time. Our CEO has a Master's in CS and a strong product vision, but by and large our engineers are responsible for developing and implementing every new project we undertake. And while our CTO is a SIGMOD-published, ex-Google algorithms geek, our culture is much more focused on building simple products our customers love than finding an O(n^3) solution to t! he maximum bipartite matching problem.

Finally, like all startups, we are seeking truly exceptional engineers, and we expect world-class results from our team.  However, unlike many early-stage companies, we are also willing and able to provide a compensation package to match.

Some of your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Crafting Python for our customer-facing website and our internal tools

  • Diving deep with Mongo (our sole datastore)

  • Writing beautiful AJAX JS, with the help of jQuery and Backbone

  • Imagining the features and products you want to build
