Someoddpilot is a branding agency and design studio in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL. We work with companies large and small, from independent record labels to international fashion brands. Our development work ranges from marketing websites to entire web applications. We also run a contemporary art and design gallery called Public Works.

We are looking for an experienced Front-End Web Developer to join our team. In addition to a great love for the details of web development, our ideal candidate would want to spearhead the growth of the technical side of our agency. Someoddpilot is an agile and evolving company, and opportunities abound for the right person. 

The job is on-site and full-time (40+). After an initial 3 month full-time contract period, salary! and benefits kick in. 

Required Skills

  • Excited to lead, speak with clients, and work with project managers, designers and writers. Committed to managing internal resources.
  • Expert command of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript/jQuery 
  • Can create pixel-perfect HTML/CSS/JS templates from Adobe Photoshop website comps. 
  • Experience creating and maintaining custom WordPress themes
  • Experience with other open source or commercially-available content management systems (Drupal, ExpressionEngine, etc.) 
  • Strong understanding of browser rendering quirks on desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms 
  • Able to create detailed end-user documentation for sites you've built and will present to clients 
  • Experience crafting great-looking and cross-client-compatible HTML email

Bonus Skills 

  • Experience with hosted e-commerce solutions (Shopify, Big Commerce, etc.) 
  • Plugged-in to the Chicago design, development and startup community 
  • Experience working in an agency environment or on content-focused projects 
  • Desire to explore and share emerging technologies and trends with the team 

Experience

  • 3-5 years of professional experience 
  • Four-year college degree in a related field (or an unrelated field รข€" but you better love developing websites)
