Job opening - Software Development Engineer - eCommerce Persistence Platforms at Amazon (Seattle, WA)

We are building a highly scalable, low latency, highly available, and cost effective storage platform with an integrated computation framework that powers Amazon retail and digital business.

Our flagship product, SABLE, is at the core of Amazon.com retail infrastructure. It more than 400 billion requests per day from Amazon.com websites, Web Services, and internal Amazon systems. Multiple tier-1 services contributing to the growth of Amazon businesses use SABLE to store customer orders, product information, subscriptions, etc to serve to Amazon customers in real time. The performance and availability of SABLE is critical to the smooth running of Amazon business. We run one of the largest fleet in Amazon and SABLE is the highest throughput service in Amazon.

Our mission is to build an integrated storage platform as a hosted service for all aspects of a business application development at Amazon, including multi-tiered storage options, authoritative (primary)! storage, caching, pre-computation, on-demand computation, event notification, and search capability. Our engineers are customer-focused, strong performance analysts, Linux systems-savvy and good API designers. These skills help us define the bleeding edge for elegant, super-scalable services at Amazon.com.

The ideal candidate would have object-oriented programming experience in C++ or Java in the Unix environment, good understanding of Internet protocols including HTTP, DNS, and TCP, and strong problem solving and analytical skills.

eCommerce Platform Services

- C++ or Java developme! nt and object-oriented programming experience
- Developmen! t experience in a Unix environment
- Understanding of network protocols

- Experience with building large-scale distributed systems is a plus
- Experience with persistence technologies, like Berkeley Databases is a plus
