Zoodig: Lead Startup Engineer

Zoodig gives professional athletes the tools, platform and coaching to easily manage and monetize their social media efforts.  We’re looking for our first full-time technical hire to join a team at a very early stage and lead all aspects of our product development, from front end to back end. 

We have built web and mobile prototypes, live in beta, and are signing up athletes left and right.  Now we need a ninja to take it to the next stage while building out a world class team.  Come join a fast moving well-funded startup at a very early stage, work with some of the biggest athletes in professional sports, and get your work seen by millions of fans around the world. 

Role Description

- Own product from start to finish: Design, code, unit & integration test, and maintain web and mobile software

- Take lead role in addressing critical technical and product issues

- Scope, schedule and execute all projects related to product development and infrastructure

- Build a world class team of engineers

- Embrace the start-up culture and put in the necessary work to get stuff done

- Lead design and code reviews

- Solve complex problems and move quickly to capitalize on market opportunities

- Evaluate partnership / vendor / biz dev opportunities from a technical standpoint

- Represent the company to industry peers, potential investors, and other stakeholders

Requirements

- 5+ years of directly-related experience, preferably with a web/mobile startup

- BS degree in Computer Science or related discipline is required; MS or PhD is a plus.

- Expert-level proficiency with Ruby, Python, PHP, or similar programming language

- Excellent UI/UX skills with knowledge of latest design practices

- Experience with LAMP stack and managing infrastructure for scalability

- XML/XSLT, serialization

- SQL/database programming

- Application architecture and design

- Debugging and performance tuning

- Multi-threading

- Web Services and interface development, including familiarity with JQUERY and CSS

Other Experience Desired

- Passionate sports fan

- Technical/Team Leadership experience, including working with vendors and contractors

- Mobile application design/development

- Experience with high-load applications handling multiple concurrent users

- Exceptional problem solving skills

- Ability to write clear requirements documents, design documents, test plans and end-user documentation; and present requirements, designs, test plans and status to peers and management.
