FutureAdvisor is a six-person, consumer Internet startup backed by Sequoia Capital that’s remaking saving & investing for the average American family. Today customers entrust us to advise them on $4 Billion in retirement assets.
Why this matters: Today big banks and brokerages siphon more than $100 Billion a year in fees from our collective 401(k)s and IRAs. We’re fixing this, with amazingly smooth user experiences built atop decades of finance research. Diligent, methodical software saves customers thousands in unnecessary fees, and increases returns in the long run. This is how wealthy families manage their money today, but because software scales better than people in suits, we can bring this world-class financial management to everyone.
About you: You’re an engineer who loves to work on important problems at scale, on a small team, backed by the investors behind Google, PayPal, and Yelp. Y! ou’ll learn how high-flying venture-backed technology startups work, from the inside out. You'll own a huge part of the company's future and make critical architecture decisions from day one. Along the way you’ll pick up tons of finance and math (we hope you like math). Most importantly, you believe that helping people keep their money out of the pockets of Wall Street is a problem worth working on.
The usual (and not so usual) benefits:
- Meaningful equity… and a small enough team that you can actually impact your own future. We’re an engineering team that fits around one table at lunch, by design. Your decisions and your work matter.
- Competitive pay and health insurance (for your whole family, if you have one)
- A workout stipend, not just a gym membership: folks spend it on tennis, bouldering, and kickboxing. Whatever your workout is.
- Transit ben! efits: use it for the bus or to buy yourself the bike of your ! dreams.
- Free breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks in the office: we spend more on food than rent, and we love it that way. (The founders came out of Y Combinator, where we lived and worked out of an apartment where food was always available, and we've kept that ethos as we've grown).
- Your own hardware budget & unlimited learning budget: whatever books, screencasts, and tools you need.
- Weekly team lunches, and monthly outings such as sailing, curling, and go-karting
- Free house cleaning service for your home, because if you’d rather code than vacuum, that’s cool with us.
