S7 Labs is a hybrid software consulting and incubator firm. We build products for clients, serve as partners for innovative startups, and do a little entrepreneurial dabbling on our own.
We're currently building Songza Radio (social radio), Treshr (find and give free things away), and remixtus (sample and mix the web). Our work encompasses the entire development stack, from Javascript to the server OS. You will be expected to become proficient in every level of the stack, and engineer robust and effective distributed applications.
S7 has a laid back environment and grants staff a high level of autonomy. We believe experimenting and learning is the path to better work, and back it up with educational budgets, tech talks, and FedEx days. Our philosophy is simple: 1. set you up with what you need to get things done, 2. get out of the way, 3. profit!
Required Skills
- 0-3 years of professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in a scripting language, Python preferred. Experience with PHP, CSS, and Javascript a plus.
- MySQL, MongoDB, or BigTable-esque database experience a plus.
- Experience with Mercurial a plus.
- Proficiency with Linux.
- Computer science degree or equivalent knowledge (coursework in algorithms, operating systems, programming languages, and databases).
- Record of improvising, adapting, overcoming, and getting things done.
- Position is in the NYC area.
