Job opening - Senior Ruby on Rails Developer at ARPC (Washington, DC)

Let’s face it, senior developers know what they want, and it certainly isn’t stuffy corporate jargon in job postings that simply list requirements. Instead, we’ll answer your questions up front before getting into the details.

Environment

We’re a small development team that believes strongly in co-located teams, pair programming and TDD. Most of the time, our work is done in pairs, and no production level code is written that does not start out as a failing test. As we say in the room, we live and die by our tests and continuous integration environment.  The Ruby Developer will also be working independently, however, since you will be the lead on all Ruby projects, and will be our resident Guru.

Workspace

The team room has just been upgraded to quad core, 24” iMac machines with SSDs and 16GB of RAM. Each pairing station includes two keyboards, t! wo mice, an iMac and a 24” Apple Cinema display, and two Herman Miller chairs.

Process

We are a true Agile team. We mix SCRUM practices, with Xtreme programming and lean ideas. There is a large story-board on the wall that contains the list of stories in-process. At any time, our board consists of new features, bug fixes, production emergency items, and system improvement tasks. We hold team retrospectives every other week and no voice goes unheard.
