We are seeking a Lead Software Developer, who will have will have a can-do attitude, passion for technology, and extensive experience in PHP as well as expertise in HTML, JavaScript and Web application development. You will participate in a wide-range of challenging software development projects, in a fast-paced and collaborative environment as part of agile development teams, working alongside other talented engineers who share your passion in this space.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Development, documentation, and maintenance of cutting edge web-based applications in our portal and premium service platforms.
· Deployment of client sites, including custom development, branding, and integration with diverse content feeds, billing and provisioning systems.
· Providing technical consultation and expertise to Product Managers and other Synacor staff members.
· Participating in technical planning and architectural exercises
· Conducting peer reviews in an agile environment
· Acting as a resource for colleagues; may direct the work of other staff members
· Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to bring to the table:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or the equivalent work experience.
· Minimum five years experience in software or website development; proven experience developing large-scale database-driven applications a plus
· Extensive professional experience programming PHP
· Expertise with HTML, and JavaScript client-side scripting using jQuery
· Experience with Perl programming is highly desirable
· Professional experience with MySQL or equivalent
· Proficient in Unix/Linux use, scripting and tools
· Knowledge of XML, SOAP and AJAX highly desirable
· Familiarity with revision control software
· Excellent communication skills, and ability to collaborate
