The Role: You’ll be joining our superb development team to work on projects that feed into our weekly release cycle. You’ll be respon! sible for researching, designing and developing features for Cappex.com and our related systems. You’ll participate with the rest of the team in planning sessions, design reviews, releases and code reviews. You’ll also be working closely with our product development team to ensure the best tools get built in the time available by participating in discovery sessions, user story definition and estimate assignment all in an agile (SCRUM) environment.
The right candidate will be joining an excellent team focused on providing students with personally relevant information and ample opportunities to learn and build their college experience and success.
Requirements:
• Strength in the core Java language, including JSP
• Experience with SQL and database design
• Coursework and/or experien! ce with data structures, algorithms, system design and analysi! s
• Working in a team-based environment
• Ability to take initiative and work in a fast paced environment with little oversight
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong desire to provide a software that serves and assists users
• Comfort with agile development
Other Beneficial Experience:
• Unit testing experience
• Experience with JavaScript (including jQuery) and AJAX
• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
• Linux and MySQL experience
• Mobile device development
• A/B or multivariate testing experience
• Web frameworks such as Spring, Struts or Stripes
• Database ORM tools such as hibernate! or JPA
• JVM optimization
• SOA experience utilizing either web services or jms
• Experience with subversion or git
