Job opening - Senior Manager - Software Development at Amazon (Seattle, WA)

FBA leverages Amazon's global fulfillment and customer service network for third party sellers who want to grow their business on and off Amazon.com. FBA enables customers to take advantage of Free Super Saver Shipping and Amazon Prime on third party items, while sellers can focus on selling rather than shipping.

The Fulfillment by Amazon team is looking for a talented senior manager to help continue to build software that virtualizes Amazon.com's world class fulfillment and customer service capabilities. We are building highly available web services, reporting systems and merchant facing workflows. As a senior software development manager you will lead multiple teams of talented engineers working on systems that are global in scope. The role requires a high level of interaction and synergy with our product management as well as our Worldwide Operations team. As mentioned by Jeff Bezos, Founder and CEO of Amazon.com, in his annual letter to shareholders in 2006 and ag! ain in 2008, FBA is one of the strategic long term opportunities for the company to improve the lives of sellers and buyers while leveraging our billion dollar logistics infrastructure to generate increasing free cash flow.

Key Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the overall systems development life cycle
- Develop the long-term strategy for your programs and translate that into an achievable road map/action plan
- Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the teams
- Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class team
- Work closely with the software engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
- Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management

Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well, will be highly quantitative,! passionate about customer experience, communicate clearly, an! d have a consistent track record of delivery. The role requires creative engineering balanced with high quality and customer focus.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
10+ years of experience as a software developer
5+ years experience managing people
Software development experience in OOP, C++, Java, Linux, MySQL, Oracle

Demonstrated technical leadership in delivery of large scale distributed systems
International experience or knowledge of additional languages is highly desired
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong business and technical vision
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
