NextDrop
Hubli
Background:
âWill I get water today?â Throughout the developing world, more than half a billion people have access to treated piped water, but thereâs a catch. That water is available for only a few hours at a time once or twice a week, and residents have no way of knowing when that will be.
NextDrop solves this problem by using basic mobile phones to collect real time water delivery information from water operators in the field. We distribute this information to the people who need it: city residents and engineers in the water utility. Our services help residents save time and reduce the daily stress of uncertain water, while enabling utilities to become more efficient and more transparent. NextDrop has been described in Forbes magazine âas a quintessential application of technologyâ in the developing world.
NextDrop is expanding and looking for talent to lead our product development efforts globally. You will be specifically in charge of our user interface/human computer interaction design. What does that exactly mean? (Donât you hate it when companies throw all these buzz words into a job description but it could really mean a million things?) You will be the primary agent of technological change: youâll be working with the field level operators who we source data from and make sure that our product is as easy to use as possible. You and the operators will become best friends, and youâll understand their lives, what problems they face, and what makes them tick. Why? So that you can develop (technical and/or non technical) ways for them to easily and consistently provide us the water delivery information we need to make a difference in peoplesâ lives.Â
Â
You should Apply for this job if:
You love interacting with people and can talk to literally anybody: from your friendâs grandmother you met 2 minutes ago, to the guy who is fixing the road in front of your house. You are convinced that you were born to live at the intersection between technology and society. You absolutely love figuring out what makes people tick, and use that (in addition to your love of technology) to bring about behavior change. You also love the details: you record everything that goes right, AND everything that goes wrong so you can fix it next time. Your motto: Fail fast, fail often, but learn every time.  You love to do research and you love to learn- from talking with , to reading about how other successful companies sell their product, you want to know it all. But most of all, you are simply passionate about making a real difference in the world, and will do whatever it takes to make that happen.
Â
Youâre a match if:
·     You have a Bachelors Degree , but are really dissatisfied at the way you are currently putting it to use.Â
Â
·     Have some sales and management experience (be it setting up your own small scale tailoring business for your apartment building in 10th standard, to leading a 20 person technical team at your previous job, it all counts!)
Â
·     Youâre a pro at speaking Kannada (and English too!)
