Director of Engineering (San Francisco)
As a Director of Engineering at Beatport you will be responsible for managing software engineers on multiple teams focusing on application development, UI development, and quality assurance. You will work closely with the Director of Engineering, the CTO, the Director of Infrastructure, the Director of Data Services, and product experts to ensure we have a robust and modular architecture, and that we are developing the needed features in a timely fashion.

You will be responsible for goals and objectives and reviews and hiring and, if necessary, firing/laying off staff for your development team. You will also ensure your staff has the correct technical skills and training to perform their jobs.

You will work with the Director of Engineering to map out development goals and plans to meet them. You will be responsible for ensuring that your team's portion of development meets Beatport's product strategy and product timeline.

You will work with the Scrum Masters to ensure Development Scrum team members have the proper training and skills and that consistent development processes are followed across development members of Scrum teams.

You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of timely delivery and that your developers are producing clean code and that the proper level of design and code reviews are established within the teams.

You will help ensure cross team communication is clear and dependency lines are understood and incorporated into backlogs as needed. You will advocate to have development initiatives prioritized on the appropriate team backlogs for delivery.

To land this job you'll need to have:
  1. 6-8 years experience in a technical environment
  2. 2-4 years people management experience
  3. Project lead and/or supervisory experience required
  4. Strong technical skills
  5. Good project planning and project management skills
  6. Knowledge of Web Development, OOP, HTML
  7. Good management skills
  8. Good multi-tasking skills
  9. Excellent communication skills
  10. Experience in Agile and Scrum
  11. Experience with software development and product release cycles
