Job opening - Performance Engineer - Hitachi Content Platform at Hitachi Data Systems (Waltham, MA)

The HCP (Hitachi Content Platform) Engineering team is looking for a Performance Engineer to contribute to the technical direction, design and development of our cloud storage product.  You will be identifying bottlenecks in the system, work with development team on overcoming design issues.  You will play a significant role in technology decisions for the HCP product line, and will make significant hands-on contributions to the product.  You must be passionate about continuously delivering highly innovative software based storage solutions to the market. The goal of this team is to characterize performance, reliability, scalability and availability. That is, to provide characterization of the limits of different components of HCP, and collaborate with other HCP teams on options for extending those limits. This includes running tests, analyzing the results and producing reports for internal and external customers. It also involves engaging with the architec! ts and developers to propose solutions that extend the boundaries of the system. The team is also responsible for providing characterization data and best practices for optimally deploying HCP for different customer use cases and environments.   Job Functions:



  • Deliver V+1 on time or ahead of schedule with continuous characterization of performance and scalability.

  • Deliver completed V+1 Performance Whitepaper within 8 weeks of GA

  • Extend the coverage, scope and quality of the performance characterization test suites

  • Characterize and identify hardware and software barriers that limit bandwidth and throughput performance and scalability.

  • Contribute to the technical direction and architectural vision of the product.

  •  Design, Develop and Unit Test high-value features.

  • Characterize and extend the product's capabilities in the areas of reliability, availability, scal! ability and performance.

  • Advance and promote sof! tware engineering best practices and processes.

  • Continuously assess and evolve technology and core components.

  • Work closely with the development teams to analyze the performance issues, debug and resolve any issues.

  • Load balance with engineering cross-functional groups to achieve organizational objectives.
