The Senior Developer, Search & Advertising will have extensive experience in PHP as well as expertise in HTML, JavaScript and Web application development. Moreover, this individual will play a key role in a team of developers that design, develop and maintain Synacor’s Search and Advertising platform, which integrates with industry leading search providers and ad networks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Development, documentation, and maintenance of cutting edge web-based applications in our Search & Advertising platform.
· Participate in technical discussions with Search providers, and provide technical input to project managers.
· Develop and maintain solutions that allow executives to perform A/B tests that improve end user engagement.
· Providing technical consultation and expertise to Product Managers and other Synacor staff members.
· Participating in technical planning and architectural exercises.
· Participating in an Agile development environment with our S&A team.
· Conducting peer reviews.
· Research and learn new technologies to share with our S&A team.
· Participate in Synacor’s dev tricks; a frequent development seminar run by developers.
· Acting as a resource for colleagues; may direct the work of other staff members
· Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring to the table:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or the equivalent work experience.
· Minimum five years experience in software or website development; proven experience developing large-scale database-driven applications a plus
· Proficient in a LAMP environment using either PHP or Perl (A plus for candidates who are well experienced with both languages)
· Expertise with HTML, and JavaScript client-side scripting
· Professional experience with MySQL or equivalent
· Proficient in Unix/Linux use, scripting and tools
· Knowledge of XML, SOAP and AJAX highly desirable
· Familiarity with revision control software (Git)
· Excellent communication skills, and ability to collaborate
