Job opening - Software Engineer at Global Corps (Washington, DC)

We are currently seeking a Software Engineer in Washington, DC to work within a dynamic and highly innovative team environment. Due to security requirements, interested candidates are required to be U.S. citizens.  The salary range is $51,630-$115,742 and is based largely on proven salary history. The incumbent will design and implement architecture components for Drupal-based applications, utilizing different Drupal modules, PHP, JavaScript, and other web technologies. The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated and adaptable to learning and understanding new technologies, be able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet aggressive deadlines, and have the ability to work both independently and in a team, producing quality work products with attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participates in technical development through all phases of the software development life cycle includin! g requirements gathering/analysis, information architecture, software design, proof-of-concept development, coding, testing, deployment, performance tuning, refactoring, etc.


• Design efficient, extensible, object-oriented code from written requirements.


• Translate functional specifications into technical specifications.


• Assist project personnel in resolving complex program problems.


• Diagnose technical challenges by analyzing code and supporting technical documentation.


• Complete tasks as assigned within deadlines.

Excellent knowledge and skills in the following in the following areas:

• Experience with Web technologies: PHP, HTML 5, CSS 3


• Experience with Javascript required and the following libraries a plus: JQuery, Underscore, Backbone, and Handlebars


• Experience with Linux


• Experience using MySQL database and or PostgresS! QL


• Experience with Drupal, including the core AP! I, custom module development, contributed modules, and security


• Experience migrating content from various sources to Drupal a plus


• Experience with version control systems such as Subversion

Soft skills include:

• Ability to analyze someone else’s code and assume ownership


• Discipline to document your own code


• Ability to manage multiple tasks with varying priorities


• Ability to communicate ideas in a variety of formats


• Requires interpersonal and communications skills in order to
  work with both technical and non-technical personnel at
  various levels in the organization.
