Job Summary:
The University of San Francisco seeks a productive and team-oriented individual to join the Application Services group as a Web Developer/Application Administrator. This is a full-time Administrative and Professional Staff position, reporting to the Manager, Applications. The Application Services group provides support for the Ellucian Banner administrative system, BlackBoard learning management system, mobile apps, and other mission-critical systems. We are looking for candidates who can use the latest technology to build and maintain user-friendly and feature-rich applications.
Job Responsibilities:
• Design, develop and deliver web applications to meet the needs of our functional users
• Modify our existing applications to improve functionality and! process flow
• Perform application administrator duties such as applying upgrades and troubleshooting
• Work closely with our technical team and with our functional users
• Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new applications
• Monitor web statistics and perform load testing for critical processes
• Assume leadership/mentor role for cutting-edge web development
• Recruit, supervise and coach student workers
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or advanced degree in Information Sciences
• 3-5 years relevant web technology work experience
• Experience assisting functional users and working with vendor tech support
• Extensive knowledge of Java, XML, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Working knowledge of Groovy, Grails, REST, and jQuery
• Working knowledge of SQL and Oracle databases
• A talent for communicating ideas,! issues and solutions in a team environment
• Ability ! to diagnose issues and find solutions under pressure
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Experience working with MVC architecture development using existing frameworks such as ZK and Ruby on Rails
• Experience with source code management systems
• Knowledge of software development process, quality control and ITIL processes
• Knowledge of Spring, Hibernate, and other development frameworks
• Experience in coding in UNIX, PHP, Perl and PL/SQL preferred
• Experience supporting multi-user, mission-critical applications
• Knowledge of mobile platforms, internet technologies and user interface
