Amazon’s network enables the global operation of thousands of applications across hundreds of thousands of servers in dozens of locations across the world. The AWS Networking team develops and operates the network platform for all of Amazon including e-commerce products and cloud computing solutions. This platform is industry-leading for its efficiency, intelligence, throughput and reliability. The network is simply critical to the success of hundreds of thousands of AWS customers.

As an SDE on the Internet Engineering team, you will build the platform and applications that leverage data from Amazon's millions of customers in realtime. Thanks to AWS, a large fraction of the Internet now flows through our network. This data presents amazing opportunities to identify congestion and tune latency for customers. The Internet is a huge graph and your job is to identify the best and worst paths and automatically respond.

• A solid background in computer science! : a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science (or equivalent) is required.
• 3+ years of experience in building production software applications with focus on efficient back-end components is required.
• Excellent software development skills, preferably in Java, C/C++, Ruby and/or Perl in Linux environment.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, asynchronous messaging, and network protocols.
• A solid grounding in Computer Science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms and deftness at object-oriented design and systems architecture.
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Knowledge of major protocols, topology design, network hardware and device configuration.
• Knowledge and hands on experience with Internet traffic engineering and design
• A solid understanding of performance and efficiency issues.
