We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with Ruby on Rails experience for our fast paced, agile development team. This position is located in Austin, TX.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Expand the Portico website and brand by implementing new features and enhancements and supporting the existing website functionality. You’ll be writing lots of complex, scalable, well-designed code.
• Analyze requirements to determine the best possible solution and technical implementation.
• Follow agile and test-driven development methodologies.
• Be an integral component of strong, tightly knit, collaborative development team working closely with the product management team and other key internal stakeholders.

 

EXPERIENCE:

• Proven experience with large-scale development projects as a senior engineer/developer or technical lead, creating flexible and scalable web-based applications.
• 5+ years of experience with Rails framework and proficiency with the Rails stack.
• 5+ years building interactive web applications using jQuery, CoffeeScript, and Javascript.
• Expertise building and executing rake tasks.
• Expertise with relational databases such as SQLServer and Postgres, including design and development.
• Experience with test-driven development and related frameworks (e.g., RSpec and Jasmine).
• Experience with automated deployment using Capistrano.
• Sound object oriented design skills and knowledge of application architecture patterns.
• Experience with agile software development methodologies.
• Experience working with remote (non-US) development teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Working knowledge of associated platforms and technologies, i.e., Linux, Apache.
