Job opening - Director of Quality Assurance at lynda.com (Calabasas, CA)

At lynda.com the Director of Quality Assurance is involved in all phases of the development of new features, working closely with the web development team from concept to completion to ensure the overall quality of the various Lynda.com customer-facing technologies. Reporting to the CTO, the Director of Quality Assurance leads, mentors, and coaches the team of QA testers to develop processes, test plans, and bug reports.
 
Primary responsibilities:

• Manage a team of testers to perform in-depth black box and GUI testing, including writing test plans and test cases from functional specifications and from using the product.


• Build and develop a team a testers by providing training, coaching, and mentoring to direct reports to ensure they fully understand their roles.


• Develop and implement quality assurance processes that ensure the various lynda.com products maintain a high standard in quality! .


• Collaborate with the CTO, Program Management organization, and Director of Web Development to determine strategic initiatives, organizational development, project requirements, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure effective and timely products to meet business goals.


• Perform other duties as may be assigned.

 
 
Experience and qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Quality Assurance management role


• Experience black box testing of web systems and applications


• Strong understanding of Testing Methodologies and web development processes


• Experience reviewing feature and functional specs to develop test plans and test cases


• Experience working with cross-functional development teams to resolve and prioritize bugs


• Experience deploying in live environments


• Ex! perience leading and managing a load testing effort for a high! -traffic, public website 


• Experience with Web automation testing tools, creation of testing scripts, and automated testing frameworks


• Experience planning, creating, executing, and maintaining automation scripts


• XML coding and editing experience


• Understanding of HTML, CSS, VB Script, JavaScript, Ruby for automated testing, C#, RESTful web services and Jenkins (CI)


• Experience and/or knowledge of Web technologies: proxy server, http, firewalls, browser security settings, and cookies


• Background in all aspects of testing mobile applications including performance testing, functional automated testing, and mobile analytics
